John Travis Luncheon Concerts

The Knowle Green Luncheon Concerts are organised by John Travis Events Ltd. This is a small, dynamic company, run by John and Elizabeth Travis. The concerts are on THURSDAYS at the village hall, and number 35-40 each year. The musicians are players from major orchestras, Chetham’s School of Music, Manchester, the RNCM, the Guildhall School of Music, London and so on. The Company aims to present young people in particular. Several are past Young Musicians of the Year, or from European or Far Eastern countries.
The concert starts at midday for an hour. It is followed by a two-course meal presented by Gourmet Caterers. In order to book, you need to ring the 24 hour answerphone 01254 826948 anytime up to 5-30 p.m. on the Wednesday before. You need to leave your name, the tickets you require and a telephone number. It’s as easy as that !

Clare Hammond - Piano
A keyboard finalist in the BBC Young Musician of the Year competition in 2004 and a winner of all the major University of Cambridge prizes, where she obtained a double first in music, Clare is currently studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Her music today is Schubert's Four Impromptus D899, Scriabin's Sonate Fantasie No 2 Op 19 and the Barber Sonata Op 26.

La Serenata Ensemble
The Ensemble comprises a soprano, a clarinet and accompanist, Charles Edmondson. Today's programme is very varied, starting with some Mozart followed by the centerpiece of the recital which is a performance of Schubert's great masterpiece "The Shepherd on the Rock". It also includes three pieces by John McCabe and a selection from Broadway shows.

Steven Wilkie - Violin & Kathleen Uren - Piano
Steven is now established as one of the region's foremost violinists, performing with all the major major orchestras. Kathleen has an outstanding reputation for her work as an accompanist. Their new duo partnership willperform favourites by Kreisler and the young Richard Straus' gorgeous Violin Sonata.

Qian Wu - Violin & Russell Lomas - Piano
Qian Wu is now continuing her studies at the Royal Academy of Music to obtain her M.Mus after recntly graduating with a B.Mus First Class and being awarded the HRH Princess Alice Prize for Exemplary Studentship. The programme will contain works from Bach, Mozart, Kreisler and Sarasate. |

THE CHRISTMAS CONCERT
Scott Brothers Duo - Jonathan and Tom Scott Piano Duet
The Scott brothers return to Knowle Green with a festive programme of duets for 4 hands at one piano. Music will include works by Tchaikovsky, Bach, Mozart and Christmas favourites.
