Knowle Green Congregational Church Women's Institute History of Warfare Group |
History Of Warfare GroupThe group was inaugurated in September 2004 and is concerned with the study of warfare through the ages - in a variety of time periods and geographical locations. Meetings take place every two months or so. The choice of subject matter is decided within the group. Time periods have ranged from the Victorian times to WWII, and locales from the Pacific Ocean, Europe and East Africa. The group leader, together with guest speakers, present talks at meetings. Recent personal research by members has led to presentations based on the civil war in England and America, Royal Naval action in the Mediterranean, and Japanese aggression in the Pacific Theatre during WWII. During the two years of operation, the group has attracted some 80 people, who have attended one or meetings, with an average attendance at meetings of between 20 and 25 members. If you have a general interest in warfare, or have a particular period/style which you would like to share with others, please come to one of our meetings. You will be made most welcome! |
