Knowle Green Congregational Church Adult Disabilities Arts |
A. D. A. (Adult Disability Arts)7 - 9pm Thursday, Knowle Green Village Hall ADA is a registered charity; a drama group for adults with varying types and degrees of mental and physical disabilities, many of which come under the umbrella definition of learning difficulties
ADA was set up in March 1995. At the moment (Jan 2007) there are 17 members with a wide range of registered disabilities (referred to as Drama Members), 7 volunteer members, plus a number of carers who work in supported housing/living projects such as Spire and Castle. There are also associated members who help out on special occasions. The drama members take the leading roles in all our productions and some are able to accept certain other responsibilities within the group. The members know each other very well, forming a stable group which is enthusiastic, confident and caring. Most of our performances have been at the Knowle Green Village Hall, but also by invitation at:
During the celebrations marking Preston’s change in status from town to city in April 2002, we were officially invited to send 2 members to the Guild Hall. They were presented to the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, who both chatted to them. We have no association with any official body. Each drama member pays £3 per week and we are fortunate to receive support and funding from the local community as well as occasional grants. |
